The Fjellstrand Motion Dampening System, MDS, consists of an active foil under each bow and active interceptors/flaps at stern.

The MDS automatically counteracts motions by adjusting the foils and interceptors by
hydraulic power. The system computes the actions from motion reference units. 

MDS dramatically reduces the vessel´s movement in bad weather and thus improves passenger comfort/reduces the risk of motion sickness.

 The system was developed by Fjellstrand and is today installed on the majority of our new buildings. MDS can be retrofitted on vessels already in operation, both Fjellstrand made and others.

 With approximately 50 systems in operation worldwide, the Fjellstrand MDS has a proven record of efficient operation and technically reliability.

In bad weather, the MDS enables the vessel to maintain higher speeds than a vessel without MDS.
